Our Head Coach Fatih Tekke shared his thoughts after our Matchday 35 fixture against Galatasaray in the Trendyol Süper Lig Şamil Ekinci Season.

Coach Tekke said:
“Today, we needed to perform well when the opponent had the ball and I believe we managed to do that in many phases of the game, even if it was risky. In terms of second balls, it was maybe fifty-fifty, but we had to do better because we had worked hard on that aspect. We needed to keep the ball more. Naturally, we also conceded some chances and made mistakes when they had possession. In the first half, we had two clear opportunities one of them had to be a goal. When that didn’t happen, we pushed again early in the second half, and then I had planned something a bit different… but unfortunately, we had to make changes due to unforeseen injuries. Especially Enis’s early substitution and later on, Okay’s injury-related exit…

Overall, we played against a strong squad. Their game was mainly based on long balls and second balls and both of their goals came from that. One was from a set piece, where we made a mistake, and the other came from a transition after we lost the ball while creating a scoring opportunity. One small error and they punished us, which is no surprise given how many talented players they have in that area.

Now, we have the most important match of the season ahead of us. Is it going to be easy? Definitely not. But I believe we challenged Galatasaray well today. I hope the cup final will be different and better for us.

Savic’s condition will become clear tomorrow or by Tuesday. We still don’t know about Okay. As for Enis, it looks like he’ll be out for two to three weeks, maybe even longer.

So, despite how things may appear, I say it’s a good thing we rotated the squad today. Because, in my view, the most important match for Trabzonspor this season is on Wednesday. Hopefully, we can return from that game with a trophy, having made our supporters proud and with a European campaign ahead of us. That’s very important for our future. I hope we succeed. But every game is tough for us, and that one will be too. Hopefully, we’ll win.”
