Our Head Coach Fatih Tekke shared his thoughts following our match against Kasımpaşa in Matchweek 34 of the Trendyol Süper Lig Şamil Ekinci Season.

Coach Tekke said:
“We need to evaluate both halves separately. In the first 45 minutes, we practically didn’t play at all. We were extremely lacking in repeating what we had worked on—whether it was defending, attacking, or keeping possession. Our opponent pressed us high up the pitch, which we had anticipated and prepared for. Honestly, we lacked courage in that aspect during the first half. Kasımpaşa is a team that plays well in transitions and, when given time and space, has a rhythm and habit of passing.

We need to avoid playing too quickly in the final third. I keep saying that if the game turns into a transition battle, we’ll struggle. But sometimes our players feel compelled to play fast and rush things.

We had actually prepared two different approaches for this match. However, due to necessity, we had to change the formation and positioning a bit in the second half, which allowed us to have more possession. Toward the end of the game, we created some chances and even scored. There were offsides and decisions that will surely be debated in terms of whether they were correct or not.

In the end, it was a match that neither side will be fully pleased with or deeply disappointed about. We need to play with more bravery. We must increase those brief moments of good play that we managed to show today.

We’re approaching the end of the season, and we have very important matches ahead—against Galatasaray, Sipay Bodrum FK, Reeder Samsunspor, Onvo Antalyaspor, and most importantly, the Ziraat Turkish Cup match.

We need to get better. Now we have some time, and hopefully, our injured players will return. We’ll wait and keep working.”
