Our Head Coach Fatih Tekke and Captain Uğurcan Çakır answered questions from members of the press ahead of our Ziraat Turkish Cup Final match against Galatasaray.

Before the Ziraat Turkish Cup Final, which will be played against Galatasaray at Gaziantep Stadium on Wednesday, May 14 (tomorrow), our Head Coach Fatih Tekke and Captain Uğurcan Çakır faced the media.

Stating that it will be a tough match but that a Trabzonspor side who strongly desires the trophy will be on the field, our Head Coach Tekke shared the following thoughts:

“Tomorrow is a beautiful and big day for all of us. It’s been a season of ups and downs for Trabzonspor moments when we disappointed our fans and very few moments when we made them happy… Since we came in, this has somewhat settled. But our main goal now is a single match ahead of us to qualify for Europe. To be honest, under normal conditions, some of my players wouldn’t even be expected to play this match, but there is an incredible level of sacrifice, commitment, and desire to play. Because we need to make our fans happy at least as a form of apology. In my opinion, the most valuable aspect is this: No matter how poor a season Trabzonspor may have had, the club must still go to Europe. Of course, it’s easy to say this, but we also face the reality of Galatasaray perhaps the most expensive, dynamic, and well-rounded squad in Turkish league history. It will be a difficult match, but I hope they will see a team full of passion that really wants this trophy. We have our own plans as well. These plans haven’t been made in just three days we’ve been preparing for ten, fifteen days. I hope it’s a good match for everyone, and that the deserving team wins. Most importantly, I hope it’s a final where football is the only thing talked about. People are coming from all corners of the city. I ask that everyone follow traffic rules while coming and going. There’s nothing more important than human life. We really want this trophy. We will fight beyond our strength to achieve it.”

Our Team Captain Uğurcan Çakır added:

“This is the most critical match of the season for us. We couldn’t show the performance we wanted in the league this year. It’s been an inconsistent season for us as a team. By winning the cup, we aim to at least qualify for European competitions and present another trophy to our club. Hopefully, we can achieve that.”
